DENIM
AND DIAMONDS PARTY
Our Denim and Diamonds party on January 26th
was a great success and we raised £700
towards the new Gig. Thanks to all the wonderful
people who came to support us and helped to
create such a great atmosphere. Much glitz
and glam and fun took place bopping away to
Steve’s disco. He saved the day for
us, as sadly our live band “Sidetract”
were unable to play at the last minute due
to serious illness. So a big thank you to
Steve for donating his time and putting on
a brilliant and very entertaining disco.

Pilot Gig Rowing -
A gig, or pilot gig, is a 32 feet long clinker-built
rowing boat with six rowers and a cox. In
the early 19th century gigs were used to take
pilots out to sailing ships as they approached
the Isles of Scilly or coast of Cornwall.
The first pilot aboard the ship got the job,
so the gigs evolved into very fast seagoing
rowing boats.
